Vertex shares jump on hep C trial data

Shares of Vertex surged on Tuesday after the drug developer reported positive results for its Phase II trial of VX-950, its hepatitis C drug candidate. After 28 days of treatment, none of the 12 patients taking VX-950 in combination with two other standard therapies had signs of the virus in their blood. Vertex CEO Joshua Boger called the data "surprisingly good." Final results will be released later in the year.
